Painter — West Orange, New Jersey
Sonia Papo
Oil and cold wax, the last twenty minutes of desert light.
See the work ↓Statement
I paint the hour when the mesas stop reflecting light and start giving it back — that half-hour where every wash and arroyo goes the color of a bruise healing. I work fast, in oil and cold wax, scraping back as much as I lay down. A painting is finished when it stops arguing with me.
